Jane Remillard is a Partner in the Boston office of Nelson Mullins, where she co-chairs the firm’s Intellectual Property Management Group.

Jane brings more than 30 years of experience in worldwide patent counseling and strategic planning for the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Her work centers on developing and executing effective intellectual property strategies, building and managing strong patent portfolios, and supporting the commercialization of innovative products, particularly antibody-based therapeutics, across all stages of development.

Her practice encompasses patent prosecution, freedom-to-operate analyses, opinion work, licensing and other agreements, due diligence, and a wide range of post-grant and contested proceedings, including interferences, re-examinations, reissues, inter partes reviews, and oppositions. She works with clients ranging from emerging biotechnology companies to established pharmaceutical organizations, helping them protect key technologies and navigate complex IP landscapes.

Jane has significant experience conducting IP due diligence in connection with collaborations, acquisitions, licensing arrangements, and financing transactions in the life sciences sector. She also represents companies in private and public offerings in the United States and internationally, and advises investors on evaluating the strength and scope of intellectual property assets held by prospective investment targets.

  • Providing strategic patent counseling including patent preparation, prosecution, freedom to operate evaluations, re-examinations, re-issues, inter partes reviews, and oppositions in a broad variety of technologies and discovery platforms, including immunotherapeutics, recombinant proteins, peptides, biomarkers, diagnostics, vaccines, stem cells, gene therapy and cell based assays.
  • Developing and implementing effective IP strategies, including building strong patent portfolios to protect products from discovery through next generation.
  • Conducting due diligence evaluations for collaborations, acquisitions, licensing, and financing transactions.
  • Representing clients in private and public offerings, both in the United States and abroad.
  • Advising clients in assessing the strength of intellectual property assets held by prospective candidates for investment.
  • Preparing, prosecuting, and opining on patents in the fields of immunology, oncology, virology, neurology, and cell biology for clients ranging from start-up biotechnology companies to established pharmaceutical corporations.
